Message of solidarity to US workers experiencing major wildfire crisis

The wildfires raging in parts of the USA are a reminder of the bushfire crisis in Australia last season. We have sent the following message of solidarity to US workers:

Freedom Road Socialist Organisation
Party for Socialism and Liberation
Party of Communists USA
Workers World Party
Progressive Labor Party
14 September 2020
To the working people of the United States,
The Communist Party of Australia (Marxist-Leninist) is watching with great concern the wildfires devastating parts of California, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Washington.
From September 2019 to February 2020 Australia experienced bushfires unprecedented in their scope, duration and intensity. Fire-fighting services had warned the government that such a crisis was imminent, but still the government did nothing. Its biggest failure has been its failure to take action on global warming, leaving the fossil fuel industry free to continue its damaging carbon emissions.
The working classes of Australia and the United States fought together against fascism during World War 2 and then were forced into unjust wars in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. We have much in common.
We sincerely hope that the terrible losses of life and property can soon be contained and that that we can support each other to demand immediate action to limit and reverse climate change.
In solidarity,
Nick G.
Chairperson
Communist Party of Australia (Marxist-Leninist)
