Departed comrades are a great source of inspiration

Nick G.

Departed comrades have left the current generation of Party members with an incredibly valuable legacy.

It is important that their lives are remembered and used to educate and inspire.

Our website archives obituaries and other material on some of our people.  This feature is located by clicking “About us” on the top menu bar and selecting “Our comrades” from the drop-down menu.

The comrades featured there are some of the finest Communists Australia has produced. They did the hard yards and built strong foundations.

They were not all leaders of our Party and not all publicly known as Communists and Party members during their lifetime.  So, readers may recognise the names of Ted Hill and Norm Gallagher, but not Fotias Antipas or Dulcie Steffanou. As a matter of fact, Dulcie was one of our most influential leaders, a prolific writer and a skilled organiser, yet in common with the majority of our members, she accepted that her role should not be publicly declared.

All of these comrades exemplified the common characteristics of Australian revolutionary communists, including a lifelong striving to deepen their understanding of Marxist-Leninist theory, immersion in the practical struggles of the day, and ethics and values which saw them placing self-interest last in order to serve the people to the best of their ability.

As time permits we will expand this section of our website.

In the meantime, please visit and be inspired.
