Statement on the Massacres Committed by the Rapid Support Forces Militias in Bara and El-Fasher

(Source: operationbrokensilence.org)

Our Party takes a clear and decisive stand against the horrifying massacres being committed against civilians in the cities of El-Fasher and Bara, as well as in other areas of Kordofan and Darfur — a position that admits no evasion or justification.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias continue to practice systematic violence against unarmed civilians: summary executions, arbitrary arrests, looting and destruction of property, mass displacement, and the forced eviction of residents — all of which are documented and confirmed by reports from the United Nations, human rights organizations, and the media.

This hellish, systematic violence is the product of all the wars that have ravaged our country — wars marked by brutality and the absence of justice for their perpetrators. Impunity has never been an exception but a central reason for the recurrence of such crimes. The continued absence of accountability has recreated the same environment that enables war crimes and genocidal acts against the inhabitants of towns and villages whenever regime forces withdraw or retreat — as seen now in Bara and El-Fasher.

What we are witnessing today is a continuation of the same pattern established since the first massacres in Darfur. Therefore, confronting these crimes requires immediate and firm accountability for all those who issued or carried out orders.

We also affirm that the failure to secure unarmed civilians, and the army’s withdrawal from El-Fasher, which had stood firm for months against the Janjaweed militia, is an irresponsible act that deserves condemnation and accountability. The army’s foremost duty is to protect the people and the nation — not itself.

We, the Sudanese Communist Party, have always asserted that what is happening is not merely a military struggle for power, but a complex conflict between parasitic capitalist factions within the country over authority and resources — factions that have amassed wealth and privileges through corruption and the exploitation of power to plunder national resources, and that now use war and terror to maintain their dominance.

At the same time, this war is part of a regional/international/imperialist scheme aimed at weakening the Sudanese state, paving the way for its disintegration and partition, and exhausting the people’s capacities and the country’s wealth — in blatant violation of national sovereignty.

This political and economic dimension of the conflict, both local and global, places an added responsibility on the international community to intervene urgently to stop this war and the ongoing massacres.

We, the Sudanese Communist Party, call upon the peoples of the world, their democratic organizations, especially communist and workers’ parties, as well as human rights organizations and the conscience of humanity as a whole, to show international solidarity with the Sudanese people — who continue to endure and resist alone a brutal war now entering its third year with no prospect of resolution or end.

We call for popular mobilization worldwide — in the streets, through the press, social media, and other platforms — to demand an immediate end to the war in Sudan and to stand in solidarity with our people.

We further urge that “soft statements” and formal appeals be turned into concrete actions:

to protect civilians, open humanitarian corridors, deliver relief aid, and conduct independent, impartial investigations into all war crimes committed in our country.

The condemnations and criticisms issued by international and human rights institutions must be followed by tangible measures — including political, economic, and diplomatic sanctions against the perpetrators of violations, an embargo on weapons and logistical support, and the referral of crimes to independent international and national judicial mechanisms.

We also demand:

An immediate ceasefire, a declared humanitarian truce, and full access for humanitarian aid to El-Fasher, other parts of Darfur, Bara, all of North and South Kordofan, and the displacement camps — with guarantees for the protection of relief convoys.

An independent, swift, and transparent international investigation into war crimes, bringing all perpetrators, planners, and accomplices to justice.

Urgent action by the peoples of the world, democratic forces, and human rights organizations to pressure states and international bodies to stop any political or military support or complicity with the parties responsible for violations.

At the same time, we call upon the vanguard of our people, popular movements, and democratic forces to unite their ranks, escalate peaceful mass struggle, and develop political initiatives aimed at ending the war, removing the de facto governments in Port Sudan and Nyala, and returning to the path of the revolution to build a civil, democratic state that protects human rights and achieves social justice.

We will not allow the testimony of the victims to be buried in statements limited to sympathy without follow-up. The blood of the victims cries out for justice and protection.

Stop the killing. Open the corridors for aid. Bring the criminals to justice.

Justice for the victims — and freedom and peace for the people of Sudan.
