IWAC: Rally on May Day, the international day of struggle of the working class and 28 April, the International Day for Health and Labor Safety!
Written by: International Auto Workers Coordination on 19 April 2021
The International Auto Workers Coordination has issued a call for action on April 28 and May 1. Although directed at workers in an industry that finance capital destroyed in this country, the message will resonate with all industrial workers.
Come out worldwide on May Day, the international day of struggle of the working class and 28 April, the International Day for Health and Labor Safety!
International unity of the workers!
Fight for health protection, jobs
and democratic rights!
We have been facing many problems and difficulties in the last year due to Covid-19. This terrible pandemic has adversely affected almost all countries of the world. Covid-19 is still not under control. The virus is continuing to spread and active cases are continuously increasing. Social distancing is not sufficiently observed, masks and other PPEs are missing. So large numbers of industrial workers are affected and have been tested positive for Corona. There are also many more health issues for male and female workers at the workplace.
We demand a safe and healthy atmosphere and arrangement at the workplace to avoid Covid-19 infection and other safety issues, along with 100% wages for the days absent due to corona and other health and safety impairments.
We demand free and safe vaccination for all!
Many companies have closed down. Many workers have lost their jobs and other employment opportunities have been reduced. The result of such an unhealthy social life of the working class is that their financial and health situation becomes critical.
Many companies used this situation to blackmail the government as well as the workers. Workers in the automotive industry are already strongly confronted with the results of electro-mobility, robotics and artificial intelligence.
We call up to fight for every job and demand the 30-hour week with full wage compensation.
For the working class. the struggle against the capitalist and exploitative tendency of management continues. Many things are coupled with the fundamental exploitation of the capitalists for increasing their profits and wealth.
As we adopted in the International Program of Struggle in February 2020 at the 2nd International Automotive Workers Conference in South Africa, we call upon all automotive workers and their families:
Come out worldwide on May Day, the international day of struggle of the working classfor comprehensive health protection and the preservation of jobs and democratic rights and freedoms, also in the corona health crisis!
Many restrictions on the social and physical freedom of movement have been announced by the government and local administrations for precautionary measures against Covid-19. This directly affects our May Day demonstrations and program, the international day of struggle of the working class. Despite all restrictions, this year it is also necessary and possible to organize a suitable demonstration culture and forms of action creatively, to carry out actions in the factories and to join together the militant workers and trade union movement worldwide.
We do not restrict ourselves to the struggle for better wage and working conditions.
We also fight for resolute environmental protection at the expense of profits, against the increasing danger of war and fascism.
“We want a fulfilled, dignified and healthy life for all people in harmony with nature - a society without exploitation and oppression, because another world is possible.” (Founding Resolution of the International Automotive Workers Coordination, October 2015).
Against the massive restriction of public life and against all nationalist or social-chauvinist divisions. Against the use of the corona health crisis to further dismantle and suppress political and democratic rights and freedoms, and against political emergency measures!
No shifting of the burdens of the crisis onto the auto workers, their families and the trade unions!
Automotive workers of the world, let us cross borders and strengthen the international unity of the workers!
Fight for health protection, jobs and democratic rights!
